WHERE ARE MARRIAGE CEREMONIES IN THE BIBLE?

Although lots of people are married in the Bible, there are no descriptions of any ceremonies. Adam and Eve are “married” simply by the fact that they are made for each other and they procreate. Jacob marries Leah by mistake, which happens not because of a disguised bride at a wedding ceremony, but because he consummates the marriage in the darkness of a tent. Jesus attends a wedding in Cana which consists of a family party, but no ceremony is described. The only “ceremony” I can find in the Bible is Tobit 7:12-14 in which a father places the hand of his daughter in the hand of the husband, and then writes a contract. The reason why there are no marriage ceremonies in the Bible is because marriage did not involve a ceremony. Marriage in the Bible simply consists of a man and woman, with the consent of the woman’s father or guardian, living together and attempting procreation. No vows, no priest, no ritual, no prayer, no pronouncement, no license, no registration. This is quit...
DANGEROUS MISTAKES MANY COUPLES MAKE. The mistake many Christian couples do in the bedroom is to assume that their bodies belong to them alone. But according to the Bible, your body as a Christian married person has two other ownership. You and your spouse. God said, “The two will become one flesh.” This is a declaration from God that brings a fundamental change of spiritual and physical status. Where two were, there is now one. 1 Corinthians 7:5 says, "Don’t defraud one another. Do not cheat each other by coming up with excuses for saying “no” to sex when your spouse needs it. The Bible teaches that a husband and a wift are on absolutely equal on matters sex. The wife has all rights to her husband’s body, the same way he also has all rights on her wife's body. DANGEROUS MISTAKES OF WITHHOLDING SEX FROM YOUR SPOUSE A couple may have reasons, which may be legitimate. But apart from those reasons, withholding sex from your spouse is not defensible behavior for a Christian. ...

10 REASONS YOU MAY NOT HEAR THE WHOLE TRUTH IN THE CHURCH….

The answer is very simple and direct – the church of today is built on a BUSINESS MODEL that cannot sustain the hard reality of the Gospel of Christ. Truth is a hard pill that everybody claims to want, but few are willing to swallow. In John 6:66, many of the disciples of Jesus deserted Him when He stepped up the level of truth He was telling them. If Jesus had depended on them financially, His ministry would have been severely jolted. But, instead, Jesus ran a tight, modest ship. Paul, and the other Apostles, followed His steps. For that is the only way that the integrity of the Gospel can be sustained – away from the corrupting influence of mammon. The church is described as the Ground and Pillar of Truth (1 Timothy 3:15). However, if the church will indeed preach the undiluted truth of the Gospel, we dare not continue to follow the business model we are using today. This business model thrives on using ‘wisdom’ to manage the following 10 factors. (Space may not permit me to de...

CHARISMATIC TONGUES: FALSE AND FOOLISH

Imagine this: A young man, untaught in things of decoration, becomes apprentice to a master decorator. One day the Master tells him to get a tin of red paint and to paint a wall in a house. Later, the Master enters the room to find it painted blue! “What on earth have you done? Your mistake will cost me money and time!” The apprentice looks hurt and says “But, I looked at all the tins of red and saw this one saying ‘blue’. I preferred it and thought I could just rename it ‘red’.” Do you think his excuse made sense? Of course not! He saw the word ‘red’ on the tins, but deliberately chose a totally different colour and applied the wrong name to it. And this is exactly what happened with the word ‘tongues’! I will not pull back on saying that those who think ‘tongues’ can mean an ‘angelic’ or ‘heavenly’ language known only to God, must be not just untaught but rather superficial. Surely this is very arrogant of me? Surely it is very harsh? Well, you tell me... ‘Tongues’ ...
